The Esama of Benin, Chief Gabriel Igbeniedion, yesterday tendered another unreserved apology to the Oba of Benin, Omo N'oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo.
The apology is coming a few weeks after an earlier letter of apology which sources said did not go down well with the Benin monarch especially with the use of the words "perceived or imagined" in relation to the reason why he tendered the apology.
The present letter appeared to have addressed the area in contention with the use of the words "sincerely tender my unreserved apology for whatever misdemeanour knowingly or unknowingly".
The letter reads: "I, Sir (Chief) Dr. Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion, Patriarch of the House of Igbinedion inspired by the pervading spirit of change and universal peace and harmony salute His Royal Majesty, Omo N"Oba N'Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, the Oba Benin, custodian of Benin tradition and wish him long life, more peaceful reign and unlimited prosperity now and in the years ahead".
"As a father and mentor, kind hearted and generous in all spheres, I seize this opportunity to sincerely tender my unreserved apologies to him for whatever misdemeanour knowingly or unknowingly which has occasioned the ruptured relationship between the palace and my good self.
